Telluride Ski Patrol, along with Telluride Helitrax performing avalanche control on Palmyra Peak, a 13,160' mountain in the Telluride Ski Area. Due to the difficult access of the mountain, helicopter bombing is used occasionally as a means to mitigate avalanche danger. All shots are 25 lbs of explosives. Later this same day, Telluride Ski Patrol along with Telluride Helitrax assisted in a critically injured backcountry skier who was caught in an avalanche in Bear Creek, a valley adjacent to the Telluride Ski Area.
