In this video I wanted to show how Joshua the high priest foreshadows Jesus Christ in that he shares the same name (in Hebrew and in Greek), and that they are both a king and a priest. I also wanted to show the supremacy of Christ as our High Priest.

Something else that I quickly want to point out about the name of Jesus is that whether you call Him by His Hebrew name Yeshua, or if you call Him Jesus, Iesous, or even Isa, God knows your heart, and He knows who we are calling on. The salvation in the name when we call upon it (Romans 10:9) is not in how we pronounce it! We must stay away from false teachings that say we must only call Him by His Hebrew name.

The New Testament was written in Greek and it says that there is no ''salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."
And the name given in this passage I just quoted is Iesous. Yet, of course, we won't only be saved if we call on the exact name, Iesous, but also if we call on Yeshua, Jesus, Yesu, Isa, or the name of the Son of God in whatever language we speak.

  • In the old testament YHWH says that his name in the only name by which salvation comes, but then in Acts 4.12, we see the same. Doesn't this mean that they should both have the "exact" name? If so would the father's name also be Yahushua?

    Pt 1

In Hebrew the word for "name" is "shem" which means: position, honor, authority, character.

    - God the Father & the Son both share the same Position because He is seated at the right hand of the Father (Matthew 26:64, Acts 5:31, Acts 7:55-56, Romans 8:34, etc).

    - They both share the same Honor because "all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him." -John 5:23. (See also 1 John 2:23)

    Pt 2

    - The Son has the Authority of the Father for All authority has been given to Him (Matthew 28:18, Daniel 7:13-14, etc)

    - He represents the exact Character of God for He is "the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person" - Hebrews 1:3. And as Christ Himself said "I and My Father are One" - John 10:30

Indeed, there is no "salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." - Acts 4:12

    God bless.

  • It is YAHUWAH that DRAWS us to the TRUTH, and thus the truth of His NAME and also the name of His SON which is Yahuwshuwa, the name 'Joshua' is simply an english translation of the name, but NAMES are NOT to be translated, they are to be transliterated, so when we say the name as Yahuwshuwa we are calling upon the EXACT same name that YAHUWAH set apart, the ONLY name under heaven given among MEN whereby we MUST be SAVED!

  • Good job man : ) God bless~

  • I think the best is Isaiah 53. In Judaism, they often forbid the reading of this particular chapter because it point out too obviously to Jesus.

  • Genesis 22:8 "The Sacrifical Lamb/Jesus"

    Yehoshua HaMashiach = 173 (english)

    God's Numbers = 137 (english)

    Let's Talk About Time!

  • Very well researched! Thank you for this video. God bless.

  • ..cont..BDB Theological Dictionary lists Joshua under YHWH and reads Yah Is Salvation. NOBS Study Bible Name List reads Yahweh Is Salvation.

  • I found this online,-- The name Joshua is a compilation of two elements. The first element is yah, which is the commonly accepted abbreviated form of YHWH, which is YHWH, the Name of the Lord. The second part of the name comes from the verb yasha (yasha 929), be saved, delivered. Derivations yasha (yesha 929a) and yeshua (yeshua 929b) both mean salvation. Derivation shoa (shoa 929c) indicates a 'free man,' meaning an independent person...cont..
