This one was about Brent. The genius of Robert Hunter is that he could write a song that would change meanings according to the time. He's Gone is a song about getting stabbed in the back in business, in this case, Mickey Hart's father screwing over the band when he managed them. But on this night, this song was about losing Brent. It was the first Bay Area version since Brent passed away. I was there, and it seemed that performing this song was Jerry's sole purpose for the night.
