  • loved the video well done. I am building an electric trike at the moment and have been looking for wide bike tyres.

Are you able to tell me where you got the rear rim in the video as it looks great.

    Cheers stuart

  • its a 20x4.25 rim from ChoppersUS they aren't always in stock its a bit hit and miss if Allan has them. They are taken from Schwin OCC Bicycles Choppers, perhaps try Craig slist (if your in USA) or EBay maybe for some old OCC choppers...I bought a pair for the trike i built previously.

  • Heeey Frank .. The actuator works extremely well no doubt, has some mojo i can't even slow it down with all my weight on it, locks solid when stopped too, can't movie it without applying power, only using a flat 12v battery too lol ...im thinking be good too take 80% of the weight off the rear wheel and LIGHT UP the tire for some you tube footage hehehe

Choppersrule...cheers mate, heap of close ups of the fab of this bike in my worklog on Endless Sphere if your interested :-)

  • hey aussie

i am trying to design and build landing gear for a motorbike like yours. i was wondering what speed and break force your actuators are? and could you post up a link to where you got them? thanks a lot

  • Thats a cool actuator . If you dont mind me asking , where did you get it ? I'm looking for something like that for a future build.

  • I worked for a company that makes those actuators. (Warner) There is an end stroke limit switch at both ends of the stroke. If you make the arm that the actuator is mounted to longer (the pivot/lever arm) not only could you use the built in limit switch but you would have more lift power at the wheels. it would be slower. but then again this was with a flat battery.. with a good one the full stroke should take about 4 sec. no load. these come in 12, 24 and 36 volts. and 2, 4, 6 and 12in lengths.

  • Hey that's cool. You'll find that soon as you're rolling you can lift em, even riding slow. Good luck with it though, I'd like one myself :)

  • hi mate looking good carn't wate to see it when you have finished it keep up the good work

  • Very Clever!!!

The ability to lift the rear wheel is pure bonus, but may spread the idea even to traditional gas bikes...
