Life in a Day - Melissa's Life In A Day In Under 6 Minutes

This is my video for Kevin Macdonald and Ridley Scott's "Life in a Day" YouTube project. I felt like I owed it to myself to make this as I had previously participated in a similar project on Flickr- "My Day, Yesterday" (http://www.flickr.com/photos/melissa_sucks/3005382508/). Unfortunately back then, I didn't film the clips using HD so this gave me the opportunity to do the concept justice. Not only was I able to film larger clips - I also had a 15 minute limit as opposed to a 90 second limit. My clips were able to breathe a little more, I think.

I didn't script anything in this video. (I really am this boring.) I woke up, made some tea, bought some food, screwed up my brother's hair, took him to the barber to get it fixed, napped after studying for my Linux exam, and braved the crowds to see Spain ignite the skies with the annual Celebration of Lights at English Bay. This was all filmed on a Nikon D90 with the on-board mic (ewww I'm so sorry) and a Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8 except on my commute after the fireworks when I used a Nikkor DX 35mm f/1.8.

My favourite clips are at (3:49) with the cyclist cutting through the pigeons and at (4:14) when you can see a red balloon being let go in the background. I'm glad I got to see those things in my day.

@melissadex I literally have a box full of replacement MS opticals for whenever I need them. I'm not sure if I'll ever be ready to switch. I think they're perfect.
