An old old song, made popular by the Pogues, Ewan MacColl and many others - for a bit of difference Ive done a version here on the Irish Bouzouki.

  • Nice!

Do you tune the 'top' string to E or D?

  • @Silatbule On this I used ADAD. I have since had a bouzouki made for me by Caz Davey of Cornwall with a much larger body and is altogether in a different league. Prefer it to Fylde, Buchanan etc. I now use a mandolin tuning. I use octave stringing on bottom two couses. Thanks for comment.

  • well sung

Sounds good, I only have a cheap and cheerful one but it does the job!

I tune it GDAD and I'm still trying to decide if I prefer octaves on the bottom two or pairs...I switch back and forth but still can't decide.

A hugely versatile instrument nonetheless. I always feel it has a certain 'tribal' quality...there always seems to be a little of the desert, the central Asian steppes, a bit of Spain and the Celtic influence in varying degrees:)

  • excellent version
