Fly fishing guide Jeff Yates and his friend Gustavo head out to Holly Pond on Long Island Sound for two mornings of spectacular striped bass fishing. Inside the pond, schoolie stripers from 12-24 inches cruise along the dam in search of shrimp and other bait. While not big in size, the number of fish in the pond makes for excellent action and double digit hookups are not uncommon. When fishing Holly Pond, leave the big stuff behind and head to the water with a 6- or 7-weight rod and intermediate sinking line. Flies should be sized according to the fish. Small clousers, deceivers and shrimp patterns work best.

Excellent video Jeff. I plan on fishing there this Spring, although I had 0 intentions of fishing the pond itself. Maybe I'll see you on the water. I'll be the tall guy with a 10 Wt that looks like Ralph Macchio.
