What do you do when your live crab runs away from home? If you're Alton Brown you turn to frozen legs and other packaged products. A cop out? Nope, good eats.

Recipes featured in this episode: Steamed Alaskan King Crab Claws, Ghee, Crab Cakes or Fritters, and Marinated Crab Salad.

  • Werid because I boil my crab and add seasoning to the pot and it taste fine.

  • Seafood city is almost always seen selling live crab...though the crabs don't usually last very long and are usually ripped apart...well by one another, they don't really seem to be that nice to one another.

  • wow his microwave has got to be in the worst most uncomfortable position in a kitchen...

  • So... if he was gonna cut the legs anyway, why didn't he just cut them to go in a pot??

  • I've successfully used the microwave to cook his pillow or drop dumplings. You see, the chicken was already cooked in a slow cooker, and I only had a half cup of broth left. So I made the dumplings (substituting one jumbo egg and a tablespoon of water for 2 eggs), put them in the bag, and then squirted them out in a bowl. Unfortunately, they all stuck together, but I wasn't looking for anything fancy and just cut them into pieces and added them to the chicken. Nom, nom, was it good.

  • Love the hamster wheel in the crab tank.

  • Isn't there some rule against putting plastic in the microwave?

  • lol @ "last time i cooked somthing live it was a peta nightmare"

  • @87btran I've never cooked or heard of cooking crabs live, I need more work to become a chef.
