  • Strangely enough, and I don't get this -- It's attributed to "Words and Music by Daniel L Schutte copyright 1981" by one website, with the title "It's a Great, Great Mornin'". Perhaps I'm tracking two different songs? I don't think so, because the lyrics match those also attributed to Hamblin in 1953.

A nasty background track is available from bensonsound's site

And it sounds like it'd be a BLAST to sing.

  • Though I'm confused, it is titled "First Day in Heaven" and "The First Day in Heaven" in various places, but seems to be the same song and words.

It was also recorded as part of a Stuart Hamblin medly by the Vocal Union in 1995 on their self-titled album.

Even Gaither got his hands in the mix -- This was the first song ever sung by the Gaither Vocal Band when Bill pulled some guys together spontaneously during a concert in 1981.

  • Actually...

"Your First Day In Heaven" was written by Stuart Hamblin and is copyright 1953. It was recorded by the Imperials in 1965 on the "Slightly Regal" album, and also appears on Imperials albums published in 1970, 1978, and 2007.

  • title: "first day in heaven" aka "Great great Morning"

Words and music by: Words and Music by Daniel L Schutte

the song has been sung by many groups including: the Statesmen, the Imperials, and the Gaither vocal band
