this was the in 1999 Oct and it was a training mission with the USS Pearl Harbor. the reason i know i was on that ship when it happened S 5/11 15th MUE

i watched the gunner try to climb out:'( that made me really sad....

@Skyfighter89 he dident fail it was almost a perfect landing but one wheel of the aircraft got stuck in the fence and it killed 7 marines

stupidly designed & placed fence doomed them ....

This was not an aircraft carrier.. this was the USNS Pecos (resupply ship). Aircraft carriers tend to be slightly larger.
This was a training mission with the SEALs (following behind in the RHIBs)... the force recon guys were set to fast rope down to the deck if they couldn't land on the deck but most never made it out of the CH-46, or if they did they were too far down to swim to the surface with all their gear on.
