The joke is that a common thing that novice horn players do at that moment of the concerto is play too loud, thinking it's part of their solo.

Those french horns suck... did they just start recently? And I just want a word with that audience. It's very rude to laugh at a performance cuz everyone there is trying their best even if they do suck lots and lots of walnuts...he has amazing projection and a really great sound. Kudos for trying such a hard solo
