Healthcare processes are often complex and not streamlined, making any system implementation challenging. The application of technology over inefficient processes will amplify underlying problems and lead to project failures.


Using a real case study of a mobile health screening service, this presentation illustrates how Lean or Toyota principles can be used to analyse and streamline processes prior to IT implementation. Lean principles like the use of value stream mapping, identification of muda or waste, and use of pull systems will be illustrated.
