  • David, David, David, Don't forget the digital hearing aids are more expensive than past hearing aids. The average cost of digital hearing aids cost about $2,500 to $5,000 for both pairs. :)

  • @rlmdeaf1 yes after my video I checked wow most are $1,200 and up

  • #11...it was a perfect intro to the use of a CDI! I hope we see more of that!

  • @HawaiiCDI Do you call Daphne's role as interpreter a good CDI model?

  • David Martin - Good critiques! #2 - Daphne and Emmet are way too accepting of what is going on. Earlier in the show- John - calls a family meeting and no one is interpreting for Daphne. Yet miraculously she accepts this? She's stressed out and has strong opinions about Antonio - so this really is out of sync.

  • @DeafJennyWitty right on! Thank you for leaving comment.

  • @DARKFITZ00 Okay. That's cool. Thanks for bring up the he deaf awareness!

  • @8588cee I don't use my youtube account, but I do translate and sign songs on Facebook. I also teach all the hearing people I know things NOT to do to deaf and hard of hearing people; like says we are disabled! I try to teach the differences between the communities.

  • @DARKFITZ00 I agree. I am trying to bring out the deaf (and hard of hearing) awareness with my youtube vlogs. Hopefully, hearing people will develop better understanding of our community. If I can bring one awareness to a hearing person, I am happy enough to change his or her perspective on deaf community.

  • @8588cee I know. I have a few deaf friends. I truely believe that the Deaf community is nicer than the hearing. I think everyone should at LEAST learn the alphabet.

  • @DARKFITZ00 Thanks for sharing. By 120%, I agreed that hearing community (and others) shouldn't leave the deaf people out. It feels like they're treating us as uncivilized and do not think of us as highly. We ARE people just anybody else. I wish that everybody can learn basic ASL or English Sign Language.

  • @8588cee I agree with you on the ordering. In the summer I waitress at a bar and grill. I know sign language due to me slowly going deaf, but I am not as fluent as I would like to be. When I was working a deaf man came in. He sat at the bar and it upset me to see my co-workers were not paying him any attention unlike the other customers. All bartenders communicate with the people at the bar, but since they did not know sign they ignored him. I corrected it, but its wrong how they dont even try.

  • I never knew there was an ASL community on youtube. Very cool, though I do not know ASL :s

  • What would happen if the water got splash onto the hearing aids? That would suck!

  • Haha. I love your open discussion and thoughts of the show- Switched at Birth. Whenever I want to order something to eat, it does build frustration for deaf and hard of hearing community while the waiter or cashier do not take a time for communication. Sometimes, they would assume into something else that you wouldn't want to order. The best thing is to write it down and ask them to read. It's important that everyone should listen and provide the correct order.

  • @dndmartin I wouldn't say it was a good CDI model, but it does show that there are some Deaf who do interpret as she did. It's just a movie!
