Training 4 dogs to walk together, it is possible! We adopted 2 malamutes (female and male), 1 pitbull mix (female) 1 akita mix (male). We first trained in pairs, first walking apart with about 5 yards distance, alternating between sitting and walking together (in parallel, not one dog ahead of the other), letting them see each other but not sniff each other, then slowly start converging their path so that they end up walking side by side. The more resistant they are, the longer we make them sit and let them look at each other. It takes a little patience at first, but we were able to walk together after the 1st session of training to walk side by side after only about 30 minutes. Then we switch the pairs up and repeat. This is not much different than the techniques I've seen demonstrated by Cesare Milan. Overall, we needed at least 3-4 training sessions. The key is to correct any aggression ASAP and also not to let them sniff each other too soon before they walk side by side together. When you walk together, you're sending them the signal that we are a pack walking together. I'm so proud of them!! Please consider adoption, there are still so many without homes!!
