Multi-Platinum Mixing lets you work side by side with renowned engineer and producer John Merchant. John has been working with Pro Tools since 1993, and his impressive client list includes The Bee Gees, Toni Braxton, R. Kelly, Celine Dion, Lenny Kravitz, Michael Jackson... the list goes on.

This clip shows John using the trim plugin to optimize fader position, as well as his initial EQ on kick drum and bass guitar.

Working entirely within Pro Tools, Multi-Platinum Mixing covers a full mix start to finish, including:

-Taking control of your tracks with effects processors, like EQ, compression, reverb, delay, etc.

-Finding the perfect balance of instruments, vocals, and effects

-The secrets to mixes that translate to all sound systems

-Techniques and interaction when working with a producer

-Mix drums, bass, guitars, loops, leads, backgrounds, and more!

This sample video is highly compressed for YouTube. Check out http://www.multiplatinumprotools.com for longer and higher-resolution samples, as well as additional information and tutorials.

  • @datboiwrek Yea inserts are prefader in protools but inserts work in the order that you place them. This guy is saying to place a trim plugin before all your other plugins, so that they react to a healthy signal (not too hot--not too low). Hope that helps

  • AREN'T THE INSERTS PRE FADER? I THOUGHT SO

  • @rutgersfan14 Anything that is a vst will work on fl

  • what about headroom?

  • It seems to me that this session on the DVD its been mixed before, i have the DVD and i can hear the difference to the tracks on my computer and to the sound of the tracks on the video, maybe because the video is been mastered or something.

This DVD are great, find out that i was on the right track and this just solidified my ideas and give me more creative aproches, had a lot fun watching. Jhon M. looks like he can be a cartoon character:)
