The Reality : You can only optimize a single web page for 1-3 keywords max and be shown in the top search results for those 1-3 keywords. Getting ranked for general keywords like "injury attorney" is very, very tough. Getting ranked for "San Diego Injury Attorney" is much easier, with multi-word keywords being called "long tail keywords". What if you had 100 geographic locations you wanted to target, and 100 individual keywords for your industry? (injury attorney, injury lawyer, personal injury help, and etc). To make a page optimized for every combination of location, and keyword, you would have to manually make 10,000 fully optimized pages. You could do it, and you could get rankings on tons of long tail keywords and really increase your traffic, but how long would this take? And how could you make sure all the pages are linked together so they are indexed properly with out having a ugly page with 100's of links? In this example if someone could make and optimize a page every five minutes it would take 833 hours to complete this project.
