John Mayer - Old Love (@ the Red Rocks) Audio Only

John Mayer plays a classic written by Eric Clapton and Robert Cray. The second of the two solos you will hear is played by bandmate David Ryan Harris, who has long been John's second guitar/vocalist.

I have heard many, many other versions of this cover by John, but this specific track is unparalleled by anything else in terms of its: audio quality (especially for a fan recording), content (both Mayer and David Ryan Harris play particularly well together in the song as a whole), length (at 10 minutes long, nothing is spared), and individuality (John strays from Clapton's original and makes it more of his own).


Please enjoy my contribution. As a fan of him myself, it is my hope that within any of these ten minutes, you will be compelled to agree with John's rightful belonging as one of the greatest blues musicians of our time--an idea which is slowly gaining ground with the public but not nearly as accepted enough.

The Chorus interpolates Erykah Badu-Tyrone. Tyrone is is basically the same song as Old Love, same chord progression. Mayer has a good ear and and obviously listens to alot of different music. This is great

@danielyimm ??? Don't get this.  "Another Kind of Green" was on "Try!" by the John Mayer Trio, which was released in 2005. Not sure how the debut could have been in 2008. Fact checker????

@danielyimm actually i think he came in at 5:55, yeah his tone is very distinct and overdriven. but i doubt he plays the solo with a slide though, dun really sound like it
