Well we took our dog for a walk and this was the nearest place we could go on the beach (er ok a stretch but...) Not the nicest of places, people unfriendly (lots of chavs)

Canvey is one of the shitholes of the world,if not thee shithole of the world....that quesion is still being disputed...canvey people being unfriendly is a understatement.they are a miserable lot of bastards.

i lived on canvey until 1994 when i was 20, then moved down to bournemouth. i have good memories of growing up there and get back to visit family a few times a year but i don't think i'd want to move back. i think the main thing is that there isn't enough investment in tourism anymore. growing up around the seafront through the 80s was brilliant and it makes me feel sad to see how the place has declined. people do knock canvey a lot though and it seems a bit unfair; it really isn't that bad!

I used to live here some years ago. I agree, it's not exactly Shangri-La but it was a good place for peace and quiet if you kept away from the Chav hangouts...

dont class everyone on canvey as the same. there are scumbags everywhere you go, even where you come from. cant imagine for a second that you live somewhere perfect!!! you have to take the rough with the smooth everywhere you go.
