I wonder... Was it his intention (I mean only in part; the Trilogy is much more rich in nuances than my comment is meant to address) to highlight that the Enlightenment values (Liberty: Positive & Negative. Equality: in relationships, before our imperfect Law, perceived of Nations, in possessing Capital & with it it's corollary, Power. Fraternity (Sorority): our personal Boundaries and those of our fellow humans) have their seeds in European Christian (or it's rejection)?

Julie & Olivier & Karol Karol & Dominique & Valentine. I love this ending! Makes you wonder many things at the same time.

I have to pause multiple times watching these scenes(DVD). They are just too many to apprehend at one time.
