Cluster Bombs - Lebanon

The guns may have fallen silent in Lebanon but the war continues to claim new victims every day. It's estimated 4 million cluster bombs were fired into Lebanon, 90% during the last 72 hours.

"The Israelis fought Hezbollah and could not win, so they turned their fight against us", laments one Lebanese woman. "Everyone was surprised cluster bombs were being deployed", confides an Israeli soldier. "We were always trained to think they were doomsdays devices." His unit fired 1.2 million bomblets, even though they had not previously test fired the weapons and were uncertain of their impact. Populated civilian areas in Lebanon are now riddled with cluster bombs. People are too scared to harvest their crops. Now, some Israelis joining the chorus for a worldwide ban. "Nothing justifies their indiscriminate killing."

Failiour of between 30-40%, those munitons would never have been put into service is the failiour rate was that high. If your firing in support of ground troops, you want your munitions to explode. The cluster bomblets, imv were designed so that they don't all explode in impact, so they can be used a ground deterant. Wether it's for future military operations of the enemy, or wether its for targeting civilians, but because of the ribbions attached, i would say civilians.

@Phillippe32587 I agree with what you have said. i guess in order for everyone one to fix the problems. we all must come to know and understand what a country and it's people are about. we must look at and know the people, the ones who work hard and hardly make enough to support their families, not the ones who get rich off the sweat of others. if the people made enough, had plenty of food, the bills paid, happy, then i feel many of the problems and hate would go away. The rich get richer in war

@batemanterry Islam is probably the most misunderstood religion (at least by American Christians). Christianity, Islam, and Judaism are essentially the same basic religion with each having its own twist on it. All 3 are "Children of Abraham" and all of them have their extremist fanatics (i.e. Christianity - KKK / Islam - Jihadis / Judaism - i'm not that educated on Judaism but im sure theres some extremist groups out there). You CANNOT judge an entire religion on the acts of its fringe groups.

there is no international law no court of opinion no rules of war. Israel has abide by all its treaties with other nations. if you are a member of a state that forbids cluster bombs it is you that are in violation if you use them. period.
