I have an old sony tvr20 and it has a memory stick and that only takes photos... how would I transfer the tapes to my computer and no firewire port???

it would be nice if the speaking person cleaned his nose before he started recording. HOWEVER thanks for the info. the 4pin and 6pin cables was actually big help here for me.

There s not much left of firewire,why is there anybody out here explaning an alternative wway to connect mini dv to laptops?
Even in computer stores they can t really help you.Only Apples comp. have still fire wire or ?

I have a stack of tapes mini dv and no camera... is there a cheap read only device to get the information off the tapes onto my computer?

@chriswalkeronline - You will a reader for those minidv's and make sure your player is compatible to play those tapes. eBay will be your next option and just find any used minidv cameras.

Hey can you help me on something?
I have old Sony DCR-TRV30 and i cannot connect my camera to my computer using USB cable. Plus when i turn to video mode on my camera, blue screen appears and i cannot play back the tape... im so pissed right now

@U07110743 - Aahh... the curse of Windows (that's why I use Mac now)...blue screen normally indicates your computer is not fast enough to handle video files. Video files requires large memory and fast processors. You might get lucky occassionally but that "blue screen" will always be there plus there could other system problem in your computer.
