An old-time three-finger banjo version of "Sourwood Mountain," played by Chris Berry on a Bob Flesher "Dandy Jim" fretless minstrel banjo. The clam is a bonus.

Now you can buy my band's debut CD, "Delicious Moments," at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/SausageGrinder or visit our website at http://www.sausagegrindermusic.com.

  • Smile! Playing the banjo is supposed to be fun!

  • It is fun. Sometimes it requires concentration, though.

  • I started out playing 5 string banjo with the thumb and three fingers on the right hand just like you, but it never sounded that good! That was 60 years ago! I switched to thumb and two fingers, then it sounded more better!

  • I just use thumb and two fingers as well; my ring finger just follows along, so to speak. It's not actually picking.
