Unfortunately at the time most people didn't rate Hockenheim as a circuit, probably because it was still in the shadow of the greatest track ever, the (real) Nurburgring. I could never understand why as at least it was one place where the cars could stretch their legs and do what they were built to do. But the fact is, if you read opinion from the time, they didn't think Hockenheim was a great track. With the perspective of the rubbish scalextric we have now, we can see how good it actually was.

@MuikuliWander Spot on! Note the difference in time differential between A and B graders now compared to the 1985 - 1992 era - was often getting near a full second back then - now its usually no more than 1 or 2 tenths.

que lipotagem linda, tudo na mao e sem tecnologia, embreagem , cambio e piolo...maravilhoso!!!...Que pena que a tecnologia hoje esta atrapalhando a raiz da formula 1...Esta categoria esta exigindo nada dos pilotos com relacao a pilotar sem esforco algum, pois de certa froma ja num precisa - se fazer quase nada, pois chegara o dia em que os carros vao correr sozinhos, e somente isso que falta!

@TheProfileder Not true at all. Maybe more like 80% car, 20% driver then, 90% car, 10% driver now. You have always needed a good car to compete for the championship. Always. Obviously though, the 10-20% that the driver contributes is crucial and still is. Otherwise you wouldn't have such big differences in results between certain team mates even today. (compare Vettel to Webber or Alonso to Massa and so on)
