  • This was from the A&E documentary from 2001 about the Brill Building songwriters (Ellie Greenwich, Jeff Barry, Carole King, Gerry Goffin, Barry Mann, Cynthia Weil, Neil Sedaka, Howard Greenfield, et. al.

  • @Soapking1965

Yes, I wrote that in the video description with the Amazon link to buy it when I uploaded it ;-)

  • Um, hey there dazzababes... Scott Lenz here from L.A. - just thought you'd be interested to know that I and my producer Morgan Neville are the ones who arranged and did these interviews for A&E... I had to chase Shadow Morton and Ellie across the US before I found them, and was on the phone for hours with Mary Weiss convincing her to do the show... such a sweet lady... it was all worth it in the end. I assume you saw the whole 2 hour show? Thanks for posting! Brings back great memories...

  • There had to have been more to the interview - was it a full A and E show? Ellie, nor Jerry Lieber and Mike Stoller have the little tiles below them as they come on. How can we see the entire show Scott?

  • If you click 'more info' in my video description you'll find the Amazon link where you can buy the DVD.

  • Hi Scott, thanks for your comment. I've watched the whole documentary many times, and it still stands as the absolute definitive guide to the story of the Brill Building and US music in the early 60's. You did a really, really swell job, and getting the, at that time, extremely elusive Mary to do an interview was just the icing on the cake.

I've always had a link to where people can buy the DVD on the 'more info' tag up on the top right corner there :-)

  • They were bad asses in the 60's. I just wish they could kick some producers asses for not paying them for royalties.
