Poets of Rhythm in Limerick Ireland

Funk band Poets of Rhythm in Dolans- upstairs Limerick Ireland. June 8th 2007. Shot by Paul Tarpey, Gig was a funkshun and strutt production.

After planting the seeds of their extensive sound experiments while travelling all over Europe the last 2 years, the Poets were back to present their own blend of African, Middle Eastern and Asian rhythms and scales combined with a soulful Funk and Jazz heritage on which their reputation was build on the last 15 years.

It was a great gig

Generally, you get your thumb damp (or sweaty) and then with just the right pressure, you press it on the membrane and slide it around the edge. Instead of gliding smoothly around the edge, your thumb will actually "stutter" around and that makes rolling sound. It takes a lot of practice to get just the right pressure and to keep it consistent as you move your thumb around the edge. Oh, and your thumb has to have just the right amount of moisture on it.

Actually the tambourine is a brazilian one called : pandeiro. Look for pandeiro vids and you're gonna be amazed!
