A rep from Pantry Pride supermarkets comes to show the panel how to carve a turkey. The game isn't all that special, but the demo is crazy - the brand new invention of pop-up thermometers, Arlene complaining about the turkey color, and Soupy being Soupy.

  • There's only one more clip that I might post (Roger Moore as the mystery guest). I've only got three episodes anyway, and the five clips posted come from all three.

  • @delightfulstar I've seen the clip of Steve on Match Game. Gene Rayburn yells (good-naturedly) at Steve "I don't work for you anymore!" Gene was the announcer on Tonight when Steve Allen hosted in the 50's.

  • They gave the panel more information on the syndicated version. Probably because there were more commercials and less game playing time.

  • This guy was a little annoying during the whole thing? Don't you think so? And I agree with Arlene it was uncooked.

  • BTW - Arlene totally schooled this young man at 5:51 and 6:27...that turkey most definitely did look undercooked!

  • @soulierinvestments Steve also made a rare appearance on Match Game around this time, with a moustache, no less!

Arlene was indeed a bit farsighted, and usually kept her glasses pretty close by. They show up in other episodes as well. She admitted to being "eye-shy," due to the various injuries she had to her eyes over the years, and also mentioned having some degree of light sensitivity. So the tinted glasses certainly served a purpose, and she actually wore them quite often off-camera.

  • Interesting to see Jayne Meadows and Steve Allen together on WML again. He was practically a fixture of Sunday night WML, but did not appear in the color syndicated WML that much. Interesting also to see Arlene Francis in her eye glasses. She must have been far sighted if she needed glasses to carve a bird.

  • Did anyone else catch the scream at 6:20 ? Arlene recacts to it.

  • Was this taped or broadcast around Thanksgiving 1974?

  • I always read the title as "Turkey Craving"! :S
