i'll definitely buy my next bike from a LBS, but the thing is, i think i got the only target bike, a flatbar road bike, that actually holds up really really well. but that's because i tuned it up, upgraded the tires, added a seatpad, flipped the stem for maximum aerodynamics, and put bar ends shoulder width apart on the flatbars. i really want to put dropbars on them. i feel like the schwinn tourist i have doesn't deserve to be a big box store bike to be honest. then again, i take care of it.

And multiple speeds. woo hoo.

This is like saying buy a BMW instead of a KIA because its better. Everyone knows the bike that cost $600 is going to be better than the one that cost $100.

So buying a bike from a bike shop is better because.. you get a very upright position...
amazing.

Well... while I do agree 100% that buying a bike from a actual bike shop and getting a good performance bike is the right way to go... I don't agree with you're reasons so much cuz stuff like multiple speeds? Come on... try finding a bike that's for someone 8 and up that doesn't have multiple speeds. All the same it was a decent video on some points, 4 stars. ^_^
Cut the guy some slack. He's not auditioning to host The Price Is Right, he's trying to educate you on buying a good bicycle!
