There are lots of good tactical carbine courses out there...for a price. What if you don't have the money or the time? You can get some good training (and stress practice) and get more from your ammo with some creativity. Plinking is fun but wasteful and with ammo being so expensive you would be wise to "invest it" more carefully. Here I show how to make a fun training game out of shooting your .223 (or any other caliber) tactical carbines to include AR-15s. The course of fire is best shot in an unrestricted open area out to 50 yds with a safe backdrop. Set a :50 second to 1:20 time limit using a countdown timer and incorporate lots of running to raise the heartbeat and create some shooting duress. It's more challenging than most people think. Stages are set at the 50, 25, 15, and 7 yd points marked off with a laser rangefinder. Three rounds kneeling and three rounds standing are shot at each stag (prone positions and rifle to pistol transitions can also be integrated). Modifications of course happen on the fly according to gun requirements and to suit shooters experience. Here some of my friends and I run our course we made that dayan informal and fun way to train. These friends are not really tactically minded but they did very well. Reduction in time allotted and increasing run distances will better simulate stress encountered in combat situations. Shooting with an elevated heart rate is advisable for training realism and muscle memory. Shoot for fun but shoot to train.

  • That looks like a lot of fun. Certainly going to try this.

  • Can i come out there with you and run my Tapco-ed out Mini-14?

  • "idaho" thats where u r dudnt u say u were not goin to tell us ur pal kinda gave it away though

  • I have dome my share of shooting at bad guys and my resume dates back over 30 years. I currently make a living instructing entry to SWAT level trainiees. My concearns are based on standards established by several profesional organizations. That being said I will list a few. The first is there are 2 shooters and one "safety" person with an obscured view through the camera lens, you 2 shooters moving at different speeds over loose terrain without an independant safety officer monitoring.

  • @W224 who was unsafe? Looked controlled to me. No one muzzled anyone and they had controlled fire. Weren't just blasting the country side... I think you should maybe look at some live action and some advanced training. If you are only shooting side by side and then you have to use your weapon in a RL event you're not going to have a clue what to do. In RL the crowd doesn't clear behind you so you can shoot the bad guy safely

  • This was so fun to watch. Man the run and gun has come a long way. I was laughing at some of this. Only because to see you now is such a huge difference. Watching this makes me feel a little better about some of my shooting. I just starting doing run and guns and I don't think mine are as good as this. Very cool, I am glad you left this up. Thanks so much for all that you do. I love the whistle. LOL.

  • @W224

    how so?

  • WOW So unsafe!

  • Nice Range! Like it!

  • @SpringFigsXD89 True, I do play airsoft. whatever. But, I also shoot At blackwater/XE all the time, training by the instructors who are my family friends, who are a hell of alot better shots then this guy. Assume you think you know what ya'll are talking about and know everything.
