Ohio town struggles to cope with job losses - 17 Nov 08

Millions of people in small town America rely on big businesses that build plants and create jobs. When those businesses close down or move, whole towns can be devastated.

One example is Wilmington, Ohio, which has been a main distribution hub for DHL, a global courier company.

Last week, the firm said it will lay off more than 9,000 workers, many of whom live in or around the town.

Al Jazeera's Nick Spicer went there to see how people are coping.

It is going to be harder now that Russia wants free trade for them and if China bail out Europe most of the stuff will be made there & dur to them wanting a free trading ground around europe port many companies will be setting up in China. Also if Cuba & other latin countries have they trade caps taken away many US firms may choose to move there for cheap labour instead of paying health,pension high wages. You can't blame Wilmington for the casino not passing. It was up to Ohio as a whole and Ohio just didn't go for it when it was up the first time. I'm glad the most recent one did pass and Ohio will be getting 4 casinos to hopefully help with jobs and the economy!
