This was taken in Carlstadt, NJ at a 2nd alarm house fire on 8th street. While en route to this fire, I saw a heavy column of smoke while I was turning onto RT 17 Southbound by the old Shop Rite in Hasbrouck Heights. When I arrived, the A side of the house was badly damaged and there was heavy fire coming from the roof. Listening to reports from members of a Public Safety 2-way radio group and Carlstadt's fireground, I knew that this was going to be a bad fire. Operations were hampered when a charged 5 inch supply hose supplying Carlstadt's Engine 702's deck gun and hand lines ruptured. It took firefighters almost an hour to bring the fire under control. There were no injuries and the cause is being investigated however it appears not to be suspicious.
