  • Hi Paul.

I watched this video and there was something I didn't quite understand. The hipflexibility for a front kick is usually not more than 90 degrees right? When you kick in some of your videos the high front kick is definitely more than 90 degrees. Where does this flexibility come from if you' re not turning yourself to the side. Because that would make a front kick a side kick right? Am I making sense?..

  • It would definitely not make a front kick a side kick. Front kick can be thrown on the side or on the front of the body and still be a technical front kick.

  • Paul's clips have helped my kicking in just a few weeks.

  • Glad to help.

  • So, what is the most efficient way of streching the hamstrings for the front kick, is it with the supporting leg turned or straight forward? And by the way, I have become a great fan, you are truly fantastic, your way of training is the way of the future in martial arts :)

  • Thank you for your comments.

Giving time, you should develop strength and flexibility in as many directions as possible, because everything can happen in combat.

  • @Elasticsteel Paul stated that it would be advatageous to promote the hip for extra distance. In ITF TKD we use both front kicks, when we promote the hip, we call it a side-front kick and is used when you want to kick mid or high section. Full frontal facing is used for close quarters and to kick to the low section ( below the belly button).

  • Okay.. Im gonna try and understand this..

    Thanks for your reply..

  • I barely can raise my leg to 60 degrees..

    I'm as flexible as a branch (-?__-? )

  • Thanks for your comment.
