Armed Forces pride of the nation: President

DHAKA, Bangladesh, Nov 20 (BSS) - President Professor Dr Iajuddin Ahmed today congratulated members of the Armed Forces on the occasion
of the Armed Forces Day tomorrow saying said the forces is the
pride of the nation.

"On this day in 1971, members of the Army, the Navy and the
Air Force launched a joint operation against the occupation
forces. The operation led to liberate the country," the President
said in a message on the eve of the Day.

He prayed for peace of the departed souls of the members of
the Armed Forces, who made supreme sacrifices during the
bloodiest War of Liberation for independence and sovereignty of
the country.

Prof Iajuddin, who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the
Armed Forces also extended sympathy to the injured freedom
fighters and the family members of the martyrs.

The President also appreciated the members of the Armed
Forces for their role in building the nation and maintaining
peace and order in the country including facing disaster side by
side with protecting the independence and sovereignty of the
country.

He said the members of the Armed Forces have upheld the
image of the country at the United Nations (UN) and outer world
by discharging their obligations with sincerity and efficiency in
the UN peace keeping mission.

Prof Iajuddin also sought peace for the departed souls of
the members of the Armed Forces who lost their lives while on
duty at the UN peace keeping mission.

The President wished continued progress and success of the
Armed Forces.
