Asus 901 (1.6ghz Atom, 1gb Ram, XP) running Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix 3 in 'power saving mode' (800mhz) so the result may be translated to the 900 or perhaps the 701. The game requires approximately 30-40% CPU usage with full detail, 800x600 at 25.6fps (highest allowed by the game) but only when set to render by software 3D. I can not get it to run smoothly when the graphics are set to use the intel 3D hardware.
In addition, the game is installed to a SanDisk Ultra II 2gb SD card.

  • i have this game too, i like it but when you brake there's no abs and there is too much smoke (i hope you will understand i am italian sorry!)

  • if you have trouble with your brakes locking try using an xbox 360 controller or other analog joystick. using the xbox 360 triggers you can apply the accelerator and brake more gradually.

  • im totally unsure as to which netbook to buy im stuck between the eee 901 the acer aspire one and the msi wind. the eee 901 has more features supposedly but all the reviews iv been reading are putting the eee 901 down and saying the acer aspire one and msi wind are best. so really confused as to which one to get. have you had any problems with ur eee 901 are you happy with your purchase ?

  • To be honest I didn't look too hard into the other netbook models, the 901 had me with battery life and 'n' wireless speed. For the price, you really can't go wrong. I've certainly found the xp model has fast boot up (no more than 40 seconds), easily handles microsoft office 2007 and media player 11 (even HD videos). However in terms of problems; firefox 3 seems to have intermittant pauses so I'm using firefox 2 which runs very smoothly, and I'm certainly conscious of the 4gb primary ssd :)

  • have you tried any other games on your eee pc 901 yet ? does the eee 901 run hot when gaming ? please test some more games and post videos thanx =-)

  • I've tested a few more games. Firstly, Jedi Knight II Jedi Outcast plays brilliantly, no slow-down. Jedi Academy plays well but has a few hiccups in the larger playing fields. Grand Prix Legends is extremely smooth, however it has a glitch with randomly distorted sound that is fixed by pausing and unpausing the game (same for the GPL 2004 demo). Need for Speed Underground 2 runs decently but requires all graphic options on low. I've posted more videos so you can check out Jedi and NFS.

  • ace?

  • well..i buyed gp3 in a shop...it was in a supermarket (i'm italian)

  • please someone i need help. i don't know where i can get gp3 or gp4. can someone send me a message or reply on youtube to tell me how to get it :)

sorry for bad english by the way :S

  • Unfortunately the problem can be your graphics card, GP3 is an old game and it was not developed 100% for supporting "real 3D" graphicss. It´s a 2D game with a layer of 3D graphics, that´s why there not so big difference when changning between 3D software & 3D hardware. Try to patch the game (if you don´t already have, then right click on the GP3.exe and select Compatibility mode and try Windows 2000. That worked for me anyway... good luck :)

  • masmola :sisi1:

  • hmmm, gp3 just wont work on my eee pc 701. Any ideas? did u encounter a problem also? i get this send or dont send error when i start the game. It dont even get to the any bit of the game

  • For all those race simulator fans, i would totally suggest this game, it is an insanly realistic racing simulater

  • I had the same problem with GPL on my eee. Try reducing the hardware acceleration in avanced sound properites one or two steps.
