u r still thinking in the western framework. there are few parades that are not government sponsored. The chinese gov has a very strict control over anything that can affect the masses. And there are violence against gays, but it's not from schoolmates, but rather relatives. passing on the family name is very important. to not father children is a huge shame. parents love to become grandparents. do not judge this system of values without living it, and seeing the tears your parents shed.
