My tribute to Bill Chinnock, my friend and musical mentor. I played in Bill's band from 2005-2007 until his very last show. He was an indescribably good musician and an equally good person. I miss you, Bill. The photos are just what I had on my laptop that I have permission to use in this video, taken at his live shows. Piano= Taylor Mesple. Tenor Saxophone= Darren Rahn from "Instrumental Prayers and Reflections Volume 1". Used by permission.

Started listening to Bill in the Mid 80's When Rock N Roll Cowboys and Learning to Survive were out. Caught him at the Stone Pony on Several occasions. Last time I saw him was the Reformation of the Downtown Tangiers band with Danny Federici in 1992 At the Cricket Club in Irvington, NJ. I was hanging with Danny's son Jason at the time..Went backstage and had a great time. I cant believe Both Danny + Bill are gone. Thank God I got a chance to share some precious time with them. RIP
I am amazed someone remembers that show. I put that on with a mutual friend name Paul Hartmann. I owed a club on Main St in Asbury Park called T-Birds. It was an unplugged club. Everybody stopped in there. I met the owner of the Cricket club, a BIG polish hang out in Irvington, Les. He asked me to put a couple of shows and Danny and Billy were up to it. Les was a trumpet player from Poland who played with Wings. What a night. Jim Mahlmann
Maybe the only musician my dad and I liked together - at the same time! Sad to know he's gone, happy to have known his music. Used to catch him at some shack out in the woods near Bangor (the Red Barn?). Glad to know he was well loved.
I didn't know Bill Chinnock passed away, and I never saw him in concert, but I have had this album of his ever since the 1970's and over all the years I listen to it from time to time. It is called"Bill Chinnock Blues" and always has been one of my favorites. Very simple and clean music. Some of these songs are so beautiful. Well, life is a mystery, but Bill Chinnock's music always made the few moments that I listened enjoyable.l
Great hearing from old Bill friends and fans. Watching the half time show at the Super Bowl, reminded of me of Billy, too. I love the boss, and I am positive Bruce learned a lot of his stage moves from Bill. I may be biased, but I always thought Bill had a better voice then Bruce. And a better stage show. Of course, I have only seen Bruce 2 times, and living in Maine back in those days, I saw Bill at least 200 times live. It was always an event. And always a great show. Rest in Peace, brother
god, didn't know he's not with us, he had such heart, hope he's up there kickin it with the best heaven can back him up with, one of the greatest rockers of American music. this was one band and one man I'll never forget booking and never regret, hey Bill listen to you still. dimitri
We had a black singer (Curtis Brathwaite....I'll never forget him kicking the bejesus outa these 2 redneck hecklers at the bowling alley bar on the circle in Union on Rt 22) We just played then......Bill had that "Black Beauty" and my god could he make it sing. Sorry to hear he's not on the planet anymore.......he was one human being who should have lived forever in my book.
I was just watching the halftime show on the box and Bill came into my head. I'd heard he'd gone down the jersey shore to do his own thing and lost touch. I was his bassist I guess in the late 60's in the Union area of Jersey. I just remember what a wonderful human being he was (his karate was something to be desired though)
I remember sitting in a sunny cow field in East Benton, Maine nearly 30 years ago to watch Bill headline an outdoor show. Met him once at a record signing at DeOrseys record shop in Waterville - sadly I've lost my autographed copy of Dime Store Heroes. Thanks for posting.
