How can you put something that big in the sky and not strap some JATO on? I look at that and I am thinking Sky Captain, how many reaper can we put in it, sky launch and recover? With a refuelling probe-and-drogue, maybe with improved avionics and a carrier catapult, then I stop, and I think, All those Spectre / Spooky, tired after Iraq, How many Howitzer could I fit, I think you could really improve range (M982 Excalibur) with a bit of altitude.

Leave it to the USAF and Lockheed to derate the Engines down to a fraction of what they can produce. Pathetic. There is no class of its own, the 747 does not derate their CF6-80C2 engines. 10% less fuel useage??? I personally recommended the GE-90 engines that use less than CF6-80C2's, plus have 40% more thrust, which would have put the C5 on Par with the C-17 Performance-wise. Per Ton Mile, The GE90 would have given additional 30% savings to the USAF, but noooo, dont use common sense.
