@fatasskrimson lol ya man i know what u mean our high school art teacher used to say a similar thing. but one of the best ways to blend is to smudge. :)

I think smudging only looks bad when u don't have a good understanding of light n shadows (values), in other words not knowing how to draw. But it also depends on the medium, smudging with charcoal does look a hell of a lot better then graphite. As for the art teacher that said that? well there's a reason why so many pros say they're self-taught..

@fatasskrimson that was a charcoal pencil, those are meant to smudge, smudging with a regular graphite pencil looks pretty bad,
