This is our first agility trial. We chose to start with UKC as they have a great beginners class. We trialed in AG1-A and AG2-A. In AG1-A you can attempt an obstacle up to 3 times and still qualify with just point deductions. In AG2-A, you have 2 attempts at an obstacle.
I wasnt sure how Nicoh would do because he is so distracted in new places. Nicoh was unfamiliar with a few of the UKC obstacles but in the beginner divisions you and your dog can walk the course once on leash to familiarize the dog.
Nicoh did great. The mistakes out there were mine. I had to slow him down as his long stride would cause him to jump over the entry contacts. I NQed us at the pause box. When we over shot it I called him back through the box to retry it in the direction of the course. When he came through the box at my command that was considered a 2nd attempt, when I placed him in the box that was considered attempt #3. This was an AG2-A run so we only had 2 attempts.
UKC is a great way to get your feet wet trialing your dog. We learned a lot.

  • Great runs, he did really well! He wasn't distracted at all!

  • Thank you for your comment and taking a look at our video.

I was so happy that Nicoh was as focused as he was. I really didn't know how he would be as it was our 1st time out in a new environment. In the obedience ring he is quite distracted. But then again he likes agility much more than obedience LOL.

    Thanks again

  • You both did really well ! will have to make a course in the garden for Suz... Afraid I cannot run so she will have to work it out for herself ! lol

  • Thank you John.

From your videos it looks like mother nature provided a great agility course in your neighborhood. Rabbit holes, trees, wildlife and such. You live in a beautiful area.

  • i give it a five star rating awsome and a good job out there

  • Thank you very much!

  • Do you know I hadn"t thought of that !.. I am lucky to live here . Thanks for the observation !..All the very best.

  • LOL, thats alright:) and yes, Sirius is correct, he is quite the cutie.

  • I'm SO SORRY! I should have remembered that! I know what you mean though, Sirius is quite certain he's a cutie!

Good luck in your trail! We'll be looking forward to the new video :-)

  • Thank you.

Nicoh is a boy and wanted me to tell you he isn't offended because he knows that he is pretty LOL.

    Does Sirius enjoy obedience?

Nicoh does AKC Rally Obedience. He doesn't particularly enjoy it but it has helped with his focus and gives him something else to do. He has his novice title and 1 leg of advanced. We trial in two weeks in hopes for his advanced title and a leg of excellent. After that we may start traditional obedience.

    Thanks for watching our Videos.
