This video contains images captured while working with the Asociacion Panamericana para la Conservacion (appc) in Panama. The appc is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing animals impacted by deforestation and the exotic pet trade. Most of the images were taken at the (former) Howard Air Force Base and at the Panama Canal construction zones, as well as at the offices of the appc, where animals who cannot be released back into the wild, due to permanent injuries or as a result of being raised in captivity, will have to live the remainder of their lives. Most animals raised in captivity were former pets. However, the majority of animals rescued by the appc are released back into the wild, in protected forests.
