San Diego 6 viewer Jesse Howe is currently working in Cabo San Lucas for the week. He sent us this video clip of what the situation looks like just as Hurricane Jimena is beginning to hit the area.
Howe is staying at the Hacienda Del Mar. He says the windows are boarded up and the power is flickering on and off. The winds are gaining strength and trees are beginning to uproot. Howe says most people have evacuated, but he and his work crew are sheltering in place. They stocked up on water and food and are hoping to ride the storm out.
Forecasters say Jimena has weakened to a category 3 storm with winds up to 125 miles per hour. The storm is expected to pass well to the west of Cabo San Lucas and will likely not cause catastrophic damage in the area.
I was there on Spring Break. The beach was about three times as big in March
