Facebook generally sucks as an image sharing site. Why? Because after you upload an image, they (presumably) unleash a swarm of little pixel-smashing gnomes with tiny sledgehammers to cram your image into 30kb so they can save on bandwidth. Like trying to fit a couch in a VW Beetle by ramming it into the back hatch with a second car. That's fine... it's free, and they have billions of photos to manage. We get it. But isn't there a way to prepare and upload images to Facebook that DOESN'T leave them looking like a college freshman on the wrong end of a Friday night?

Yes, there is... The answer is here in this little video. We made it because we love you :)

  • Yes, but do they meet the 4mb requirement? How could they being such high quality? I just got a Panasonic Lumix DMC ZS10, which is AWESOME, but upon uploading my first pictures taken, I realized that there was a 4mb max, like WTF?! How can I produce a pic so small w/ a 14 mp camera, so I thought to adjust the pixel count on the camera changing it from 14 to 10.5... Still too big for uploading, any help? And if there's anyone out there familiar w/ using MPEG2 files in windows movie maker HELP PLZ!

  • @JTM4324 Same problam here!

  • hi,

I just tried the trick with one photo and there is a real difference... I used it on a Jpeg-converted photo that was originally a Raw file (I use Lightroom). I'm going to try now with various photos.. Thx.

  • hi5 site is better. i can upload in png. no compression, same quality of the original. i try your method for facebook, used atn file. nothing. same as before i used max 100 kb files, jpg format, res under max 720, and under 600 pxls too. nothing. sux.

but wait.. why facebook using your action .atn from 109 kb brings my photo to 23 kb? and you have photos of 77 kb, 102 kb ?? damn.. this atn v2 might be the error. i use the simple tool for upload them...
