This video is for my lesson on my guitar blog at http://aaronmatthies.wordpress.com
I explain a couple simple exercises you can use to develop your co-ordination with your fingers. It also helps to build up strength in your fingers and stretch them out which will help later on.
This video is only an outline of the lesson on my site so to read the full details go here http://aaronmatthies.wordpress.com/2009/03/13/simple-guitar-exercises-for-beg....
If anybody has any requests for lesson topics or you have a question about this one, please feel free to ask me.

Also, if you are a beginner, feel free to post a response to this video showing you playing the exercises and I will be happy to offer you tips and advice.

I hope this helps you out!

  • Subscribed =) I'm a chick so my hands are even smaller on my acoustic =(

  • Don't worry about your hands being small, I've had many students with small hands who can now play wide and difficult stretches after using exercises like this one. Good luck!

  • really helpful video, thanks man

  • Great beginners' video. Don't rush as a novice, you will regret it later when you progress slower than you should, and play sloppier than you otherwise would. And your hand will ache, there's no way around it. The pain won't last.

Take your time, you will thank this guy for showing you the correct way to start off as a guitarist. Good luck, everybody.

  • tks
