  • It's a shame that he died before he wrote his autobiography as that would have been an AMAZING book. He was a superb thinker, stylist and wit.

  • If he had been alive,he would have definitely been a guest star in the Simpsons.

  • RIP Orson Welles & Merv Griffin.

  • Yul Brynner was dying the same day.

  • He and George Carlin died at the same age.

  • @GordonMorrice he did write a bio of sorts. "This Is Orson Wells" by Wells and Peter Bogdanovich is good.

  • Perhaps Welles was feeling very 'expansive' because he knew he was going to die. Perhaps that's why he did this interview, so people would know his mind before he finally dropped dead.

    It was a great loss.

  • @MrTopBanana9 Nope. He did indeed die two hours after taping this.

  • Thank you for posting this.

  • In regard to Welles dying 2 hours after this video was shot -- there's a lot of talk during this interview of Welles having just celebrated his 70th birthday. That would've placed the video in May of 1985, and he didn't die until the following October. Maybe Merv meant that he died 2 hours after it aired?

  • ... evidentemente el canoso es yeta!! : / (orson, rita)
