Russ Gabriel:
Russ Gabriel is a name synonymous with U.K. Techno, with his first full release coming out in 1993 on his newly formed Ferox label. Russ went on to record for most of the major techno forces of the 90's: Carl Craig's Planet-E, Peacefrog Records, DJAX-Up- Beats, GPR, Force-Inc, Soma Recordings, New Electronica and Dave Clarke's Magnetic North.

Always maintaining a passion for sound and synthesis, Russ initially set up his studio to make dub, but was soon converted to the electronic side of things by the early nineties radio shows of Colins Faver and Dale. After a host of releases, Russ put the small village of Liss, Hampshire on the techno map with the formation of Ferox. His biggest influences at this time were the innovative recordings coming out of the Netherlands, which Russ saw as a natural progression from the earliest Detroit Techno. This influence can be heard on his classic Peace EP on Ferox as well as his album Voltage Control released soon thereafter.

From Tokyo to São Paulo, Russ has DJed just about everywhere. Starting the club circuit with various live shows around Europe, he soon turned his focus to DJing and by 1995 he was a regular in Canada and the U.S. as well as at home in Europe. After half a year in Detroit, Russ made the inevitable move and relocated himself and his label to London in 1997. By 2000 Russ had relocated once again to Germany, where he has remained ever since.

As well as numerous remixes, in the last year Russ has released new material on his own new label Sestra as well as on Swiss Morris Audio, U.K. Pariter and Berlin's mobilee Records. Numerous collaborations are also currently underway with the likes of Dutch techno pioneer Erwin Van Moll, Madrid's Xpansul, Source Records' Move D, Tony Blunt and Der Thal, with whom Russ runs the RT-Transmissions radio show. The show now goes out as a podcast worldwide and on radio stations in Dublin, Stuttgart, Zagreb and Tijuana, Mexico.

Ian O'Brien:
Originally a UK music scholar, O'Brien was deeply influenced by the Detroit techno sound of the likes of UR, a sound that decided him to start recording his own music. This feverish mad mike disease had him producing tracks first in conjunction with Asad Rizvi under the Memory Tree moniker and then on a solo basis for a variety of UK techno imprints.1997's Desert Scores, the man's masterpiece, is still considered a landmark release by those who cherish the kind of tech-jazz pioneered on the Galaxy 2 Galaxy EP. Though less innovative 1999's Gigantic Days was still the work of a man obsessed by music rather than pose. Another album, The History of Things to Come, followed in 2001.
