Wash your Hair with Less Water

I made this video to encourage my fellow natural, "chemical-free heads" and all those who use so much water to wash their hair, to try an alternative, which is basically washing one's hair outside of the shower.

A lot of people may think that this (out-of-shower hair-washing) isn't an effective way to properly clean the hair. The fact is that it actually gets both the hair and scalp extremely clean, while helping avoid water-wasting. Of course you will have to rinse it in the shower, but mathematically speaking, it takes less time to rinse, than it takes to wash coily/curly-textured hair; so, you will end up using less water overall.

Hope you will remember this when next you wash your hair.

I do this sometimes, and rinse my hair the way our mom did it, leaning over the bathtub with a basin of water. yes the water gets dirty, but just repeat the rinsing at least twice, then take a large cup and pour the final rinse water over the head. then proceed as usual. that way i take my regular shower without wasting as much water.

@ltcartwright1976 Hi, thanks for your comment. You know, this is exactly how mother taught us to rinse our hair. Some people don't even have shower-heads in their bathroom-  I guess everything is relative. I really like your comment, and will certainly try to rinse my next wash like that. Thank you:)

I currently rinse in the shower, but ltcartwright1976 recommends using a bucket of water. See her comment above. I'll try that the next time I wash. I'll do anything to preserve our resources:) Take care:)

@brownshuga24 I know exactly what you mean. I think it only works for me mainly because it's easier on my hair anyway; it lessens my tangle. In addition, it is easy for most of us (including me) to forget because it is habitual to hop in the shower and wash the hair:)

This is a very "green" way to shampoo hair. I keep meaning to try this, but i always forget because it's habit for me to hop into the shower to cleanse my hair.

I would probably have to get a plastic cape from Sally's to do this cause I hate the sensation of stuff dripping down my neck or back (strange I know). Good vid - love your hair :)
