Based loosely on the original Danish tale of A Little Mermaid, five year old Sosuke finds a goldfish, which he took as a pet and named Ponyo. But Ponyo is no ordinary goldfish about three days out from dying--she's really a princess. And she wants nothing so much as to become human and be Sosuke's friend.
