Sonic The Hedgehog - Final Zone - 1:13 (WR)

In case you were wondering what WR meant in the title, WR MEANS WORLD RECORD! Okay, now, before I describe this video, I have two things I'd like to point out. The first thing is that in the beginning of the video, I made a mistake while recording. I accidently cut off a bit of Final Zone's tune. Sorry! The second thing I'd like to say is that I did get 1:13 in this video. At the end of the video, you'll see that I ended it a bit early by mistake. However, the timer stopped before I stopped recording. The video ending a bit early has nothing to do with the timer at all. I did not stop the video before the timer stopped. I am saying this just so people who say that I did not get 1:13 because it looked like the video was stopped to early can be notified that they are wrong. Anyhow... this is a video of myself getting the World Record time of 1 minute and 13 seconds for the Final Zone, for the original Sonic the Hedgehog. Just in case you didn't know, Sonic the Hedgehog was originally for the Sega Genesis system, also known as the Sega MegaDrive. I played this game on my Nintendo Wii's Virtual Console, though. Final Zone is the last stage in the game, as well as the last boss battle. Now, a normal attempt to get a fast time for this stage usually ends in 1:14. However, a simple trick can be used to get 1:13. The trick is prolonging the 7th, or last attack on Dr. Robotnik, assuming you hit him every time that you had the chance before. When his pod explodes on the 7th attack, he moves slower than usual. By prolonging the 7th hit, you can avoid having that wasted time, and minimize the time he spends in that state. This allows you to get 1:13! Now, this time is the fastest possible. It has been tested by various methods to be proven to be the fastest time possible as well. Now, I hope you enjoy the video, and I hope it gives you confidence to get 1:13 yourself!

There's only a few things that you can do to speed things up. I mean the last 2 hits have to be pretty much perfect as you have described.

In fact, I'm baffled on how waiting a little bit lets you get a faster time?

You only need to get the last hit perfect, not the second to last, and everything else I did couldn't be faster at all. The video description says why waiting gets you a faster time, as well It is a bit weird!

Hahaha, the Sonic Megamix hack version is a one-hit kill on both the Megamix and Original modes.

I'd never be able to even get to the Final Boss without save points...

Although I wasn't trying to form a world record, my video only completed it at 1:34 seconds, 21 seconds behind you (which is light years behind). I will try to break yours this time.
