ehh, i don't think the people are focused on the "blues licks" when comparing KWS and SRV. you can't be a great blues player without inspiration from other players. i think the critical comments about the copying of srv thing mainly has to do with the tone. blues players can have riffs inspired by other blues players, but one thing they have that is truly their own is their tone, and personally i think Kenny did a good number on taking that from srv.

He doesn't copy SRV but he is certainly influenced.

Thank you for such an intelligent response. I'm so weary of all these idiots who have nothing better to do than try and drag a good musician down (as if they really could).

right on brother!

dont rag on him for copying which i dont think he does, at least he can play SRV good unlike most people
He doesn't copy SRV, he copies a Fender Stratocaster through vintage tube amps... so anything you play is going to sound like SRV. But Kenny draws upon the same blues licks that existed long before SRV was shitting in diapers (may he RIP). SRV was a musical genius, but he DID NOT invent a sound... "blues licks" on guitar have existed for nearly a century.

You're exactly right my man.. Just because stevie mastered a certain genre of music (blues) everyone thinks the if someone plays blues music they're copying stevie. so not true
