If you happen to believe what the right wing talking heads are telling you, then you probably believe that our government cant run a healthcare system, and that the only way to bring costs down with healthcare is to let private insurance companies continue to call the shots. Not only are both of these claims completely false, but they both address the wrong issues with our healthcare system. The problems we should be addressing are availability of services, quality of care, and accessibility. These are just a few of the issues that Ian Mitroff addresses in his new book "Dirty Rotten Strategies," and he spoke with Mike Papantonio recently about how we keep trying to solve the wrong problems with our healthcare system.

  • @MrSTANDFORAMERICA People once said the same thing about education. Eventually it was understood that the health of the nation was tied directly to the skill and aptitude of its citizens. Thus public education was adopted across the nation and paved the way to our modern age.

Healthcare is no different. A healthy nation is a productive nation.

This is not about "wiping butts." Only in the parochial mindset of the Right is providing for the health of an individual some kind of handout.

  • @TelevisionPirate Well it's obvious you're passionate about this. Still - just as a constructive criticism - your all caps comments are going to get you dismissed by some who might listen.

That said: I for one fear big corporations more than I do big government.

The healthcare industry has had 60+ years to change its tune and it hasn't.

I would respect your argument more if you backed them up. Instead you predicate them on the same old, tired cliché of "big government" fear mongering.

  • All the cars in the world were once accessible only to the rich. There was a time when only the absolutely rich could afford washing machines and only the rich could fly on planes. Because the rich paid the high price, we all can now afford it. It is not a perfect system but it is a system contains the fixes to most of its own problems.

  • there's a big difference between school and heathcare. Basic education is only 12 years. This healthcare is from birth to death.

The "wiping butts" as so falls under grownups being allowed to start on their parents healthcare until the are 27 is total b/s. That's the government wiping these brat kids ass.

Kids need to learn in school how to take care of themselve sand stop depending on everyone else.

  • @mikepalomino There are those that still have their parents wipe their butts, even at 35 years of age. Then as the parents have had enough of it. They turn to the government(the rest of tye people of the nation) to wipe it for them.

For those 60 years the the majority of people have had no problem paying for their own healthcare. Now a generation of kids is coming up with, "why should I have to pay for healthcare, why can't the rest of the nation help me out".

If we can do it, so can you.

You go ahead and love your big government, I know enough about government to know that I don't want them digging through my medical files!

Sorry, again, that was wrong on my part...

  • The reason I'm being such a dick is because I am so sick in tired of this argument for one!! So it's not just you, or your stance, it's this argument.. Nothin I'm going to say is going to change your mind, and nothing I'm going to say is going to change your mind...
