@forallyouknow I think that you might be a little intellectual about this. I look at his singing and performance as a package. He is the most natural opera singer and actor of them all. If you want a "line", put him in a recording studio or a concert, I am sure you will give you his line.

He did it better at Glyndebourne. See that video.

Good comment, and thanks for the link. Nonetheless, although Simoneau's rendition was great, one should not compare studio recordings with live performances. In studios singers can focus completely on singing in addition to having chances to do retakes, whereas in live performances acting, physical movements and other variables could sometimes, if not always, affect the quality of singing.

I didn't remember that comment till you remindet me of it :). Probably that night I decided to hurt myself and I looked at it, but they sang so well that I forgot how absurd was the situation

Because of your comments two weeks ago.

I don't remember... Why?

he can sing it a lot better, guess he was a bit a bit tired when it was recorded.
There seems to be an absence of a vocal line... and that is NOT a pianissimo. That said, I find this interpretation to be superior to those of previous performances. I'm glad to see he's refining it as it goes--he should be a formidable Ferrando soon. Just.. please, a line!

@kickirk I will disagree, respectfully of course. His registers seem disconnected, and the voice does not appear to flow naturally. Anyway, further debate on this topic seems moot.
